AMOLOCK® – FAQ

AMOLOCK® by Scharpenack GmbH
The installation of Amolock tiles differs slightly from collection to collection. However, as all Amolock plastic tiles interlocked with each other, you only need a few tools. You should have the following tools ready for installation:
  • A knife or saw with a fine saw blade for cutting the edge tiles, the use of a cutter or guillotine is also possible. For the Pro, Xtreme, Slate and Luxury collections, the use of a jigsaw or table saw is recommended.
  • Depending on the collection, you will need a rubber mallet with a dark or light head, depending on the tile décor, to join the tiles together. Note that a dark rubber mallet can leave discolouration on light-coloured decors!
  • For correct installation, the floor should be measured . If necessary, use a cord marker to divide the room.

The polypropylene tiles in the Easy Wood, Easy Classic and Easy Design collections are perfectly tailored to outdoor needs and are ideal for use as plastic tiles for patios or balconies, for example. Thanks to UV resistance, resistance to temperature fluctuations and slip resistance, the Amolock tiles are easy to use for outdoor areas . The slightly moisture-permeable system allows the substrate to breathe naturally.

The polypropylene and PVC tiles can be laid on almost any flat, firm and smooth surface. For an ideal result, the substrate should be well prepared before laying the Amolock tiles. This should comply with the recommendations of national and European standards and be as clean, smooth, even and free of dust and grease as possible. The load-bearing capacity and strength should also be checked. For this purpose, repair any holes, cracks and unevenness.

To create a coherent overall look, we offer practical solutions for every area with matching skirting boards and end trims , cable and marking strips as well as drive-on ramps and corner pieces. The accessories tailored to the individual collections are colour-coordinated with the decors and can conceal expansion joints, protect walls and floors from wear and tear and the ingress of water and dirt, and form a visually appealing finish to a hard-wearing plastic floor.

The polypropylene tiles of the Easy Classic, Easy Design and Easy Wood ranges can also be used outdoors and allow the subfloor to breathe naturally thanks to their slight moisture permeability. The connection of the PVC tiles of the Grand, First Eco and First Design Eco collections is almost waterproof. The unique AirFlow system on the back of the tile allows air to circulate and thus prevents the formation of mould when small amounts of rain or snow water penetrate.

Polypropylene and PVC tiles generally require very little care and maintenance . For cleaning, a little water and care products suitable for plastic tiles are sufficient. The polypropylene tiles of the Easy Classic, Easy Design and Easy Wood series, which are tailored for outdoor use, can also be cleaned with a hose or high-pressure cleaner when installed on waterproof substrates. For stubborn dirt, the tiles can simply be removed and cleaned individually.
Amolock PVC garage and industrial flooring can also be cleaned with plain water and cleaning agents suitable for cleaning vinyl. Never use aggressive cleaning agents or other chemicals that are not suitable for cleaning PVC floors, as these could damage the floor. Suitable care and cleaning products are available, for example, from the Dr. Schutz brand. Water should not stand on PVC industrial and garage tiles. Therefore, when cleaning with a cleaning machine , pay attention to the amount of water.

The Amolock tiles can withstand different loads depending on the collection. The plastic tiles in the Easy Classic and Easy Design ranges offer a guaranteed load-bearing capacity of 110t/m², while the wood-look tiles in the Easy Wood range offer a load-bearing capacity of 50t/m². Designed for use in garages and industrial areas, the PVC tiles are suitable for driving on with cars, forklift trucks and pallet trucks. Please refer to the respective data sheet to find out whether the plastic tiles are suitable for your intended use , as there may be differences here depending on the collection.
The room and installation conditions can also influence the load-bearing capacity. In particular, PVC tiles designed for installation in garages and industry should be glued down if necessary in the event of direct sunlight or enormous loads. For the Grand, First Eco and First Design Eco collections, the recommended upper load limit for installation without adhesive is 1500 kg for four-wheeled forklift trucks with rubber tyres and 1000 kg for three-wheeled forklift trucks with rubber tyres and rear double wheel. For pallet trucks, the load limit without gluing is a total weight of 1000 kg including load.

All Amolock tiles comply with a minimum slip resistance of R9 or R10 . Surfaces such as snakeskin, checker plate, studs or net-like grid systems ensure a secure grip.
